The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

When a little hobbit named Frodo accidentally discovers an ancient ring, it binds him to an incredible destiny. He presents the ring to the wizard Gandalf, who instructs him to destroy the Ring of Power, as it contains evil magical powers. According to Frodo, Gandalf, a group of hobbit friends, an elf, a dwarf, and other citizens of the world go on the voyage. Together they form the Fellowship of the Ring. Along the way, the travelers experience dangerous and challenging situations – only the destruction of the ring can stop the evil started by the Black Prince Sauron.

The film was significantly awarded four Oscars: best cinematography, best makeup, best music, and best effects.
At the BAFTA gala, the film won the following awards: best film, best special visual effects, and best make-up/hair.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

In the first Narnia film, four children find a way to a completely new world in a wardrobe: Narnia, where there are, among other things, giants, fauns, and centaurs. The White Wizard has conjured eternal winter into the world. Together with a lion named Aslan, the children decide to free the inhabitants of Narnia from the curse.

The film has been awarded with an Oscar for best make-up masking and three BAFTA awards: best make-up masking, best sound mixing, and best visual effects.

Dune

As a mythical and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dyyni tells the story of Paul Atreides. An intelligent and talented young man is born to fulfill a great destiny beyond his understanding. Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) directs Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Dune, based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. The film won a whopping 6 Oscars.

Clifford The Big Red Dog

As Emily struggles to fit in at home and at school, she discovers a small red puppy who is destined to become her best friend. When Clifford magically undergoes one heck of a growth spurt, becomes a gigantic dog and attracts the attention of a genetics company, Emily and her Uncle Casey have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Along the way, Clifford affects the lives of everyone around him and teaches Emily and her uncle the true meaning of acceptance and unconditional love.

A Christmas Carol

Ebenezer Scrooge only cares about money and despises his loved ones. Scrooge especially hates Christmas. As the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future warn him against continuing his current selfish life, Scrooge must decide whether to change his life or live in solitude surrounded by his hatred.

This is the film version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Story (1843), which premiered in 2009. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis, and Jim Carrey plays a six-part role as Ebenezer Scrooge, both young, middle-aged and old, in addition to Carrey playing three spirits that haunt Scrooge.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Harry Potter has lived under the stairs at his aunt and uncle’s house his whole life. A film based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic work about four sisters, Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg, and their lives in America during the Civil War.

The director is Gerta Gerwig and the actors are e.g. Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet and Meryl Streep. Movie won an Oscar from Best Costume Design.

The Adventures of Tintin : The secret of the Unicorn

Intrepid young reporter, Tintin, and his loyal dog, Snowy, are thrust into a world of high adventure when they discover a ship carrying an explosive secret. As Tintin is drawn into a centuries-old mystery, Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine suspects him of stealing a priceless treasure. Tintin and Snowy, with the help of salty, cantankerous Captain Haddock and bumbling detectives, Thompson and Thomson, travel half the world, one step ahead of their enemies, as Tintin endeavors to find the Unicorn, a sunken ship that may hold a vast fortune, but also an ancient curse.
