Gremlins
“Gremlins” (translated as “Riiviöt” in Finnish) is a 1984 American horror-comedy film directed by Joe Dante and written by Chris Columbus. Steven Spielberg served as an executive producer. The film follows the horror experiences faced by a young man named Billy Peltzer and his family in a small town called Kingston Falls.
The plot begins when Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) receives a cute little creature as a Christmas gift, known as a “Mogwai.” Mogwai is a small, furry creature that must be cared for very carefully: they should not be exposed to bright light, they must not come into contact with water, and they must not be fed after midnight. Billy’s father purchased the Mogwai as a gift from the town’s eccentric collector.
When Billy’s disobedient cousin accidentally spills water on the Mogwai, it results in the creation of more Mogwai creatures, which are much more mischievous and less friendly than the original. These new forms are called Gremlins, and they wreak havoc and chaos in the town.

When they lose their jobs at the university, they decide to start their own business called Ghostbusters, with the purpose of investigating and capturing paranormal phenomena.
Ghostbusters equips themselves with unique proton beams and traps to capture ghosts and other supernatural entities. The business starts to thrive when they are hired for their first job, investigating paranormal activity at the New York Public Library. From then on, they encounter many ghosts and other supernatural threats in the city.
The plot of the film also introduces the threat of Gozer The Gozerian, an ancient Sumerian deity. To prevent Gozer’s return, the Ghostbusters must join forces and confront great danger to save the city.

Goosebumps
“Goosebumps” is a 2015 American horror-comedy film based on R.L. Stine’s popular book series for young people of the same name.
The story begins when teenager Zach Cooper moves with his mother to the small town of Greenville. The mysterious writer R.L. lives next door to Zach. Stine (played by Jack Black), whose collection he keeps very secret. Zach meets Stine’s daughter Hannah (Odeya Rush) and they become friends.
Soon, Zach and his new friend Champ (Ryan Lee) discover that something strange is going on at Stine’s house. They get in and find Stine’s locked books containing the monsters from all the Goosebumps books. When they accidentally release one of these monsters, they realize that books can bring all the monsters in the stories to life.
Zach, Hannah, Champ and R.L. himself. Stine now has to fight against time together and prevent monsters from destroying the city. On their way, they encounter many monsters from the Goosebumps series, such as Slappy doll, living trees, large cockroaches and other scary creatures.
The film combines humor and horror into an adventure for young people as they try to stop monsters from wreaking havoc. In the end, they have to use their wits and courage to defeat the monsters and save their town.

Ten years have passed since Jake Sully joined the Na’vi clan on the planet Pandora. The events take place in 1962 and in North America, where Elisa and Zelda are cleaners and friends in a research laboratory. Speechless Elisa discovers a top-secret object in the laboratory, which is a human-like, aquatic creature worshiped by the citizens of the Amazon rainforest. Agent Strickland of the laboratory performs torturous experiments on the creature, as a result of which the creature almost perishes. An unexpected love story develops between Elisa and the utopian water creature and Elisa decides to release the creature.
The film was significantly awarded four Oscars: best direction, cinematography, music, and set design. Movie was also awarded at the Bafta Gala.

The film is magical realism, where the main character is a 6-year-old girl named Hushpuppy. She lives with her father Wink in Bathtub, a dingy swamp in southern Louisiana, USA, where life is primitive and where people live in harmony with nature.
The commune of Bathtub is flooding because the continental ice is melting and this is causing the release of ancient beasts. Winki’s health is also deteriorating at the same time, so it’s time for 6-year-old Hushpuppy to face these challenges and survive them with honor.
Koulukino’s learning materials deal with magical realism, the Hushpuppy character, editing, and montage, and include film interpretation tasks. The materials are aimed at middle schools and secondary education.

A young girl named Emilia gets superpowers from being bitten by her pet guinea pig, which come in handy when the herrings of the Baltic Sea rise up in rebellion to save the sea from pollution.
