Julkaistu:The Harvest of the North movie tells the story of three generations of farmers in a rural farmhouse. The farmers are facing various issues all tied to some form of structural change. Now, a returning local, Ville, a Helsinki-based IT industry hipster, arrives in the village. Ville’s business partner has led their company to bankruptcy, leaving Ville with debts totaling hundreds of thousands. Ville’s father had guaranteed the loan for Ville, putting the entire family farm’s future at risk. Ville has a thought: he could grow cannabis on the remote field of the farm. There happens to be a shortage of good weed in the capital region. After some persuasion, the men of the family start cultivating cannabis, and from there, the mess naturally unfolds. The mix-up involves a weed dealer named Mehmed, EU bureaucrats, influential figures in the village, gangsters, the local motorcycle club, and the well-known local cop, Laitinen.
