Avatar: The Way of Water

Ten years have passed since Jake Sully joined the Na’vi clan on the planet Pandora. Nowadays, he is married to Neytiri, and together they have explored the underwater realms of Pandora with their children Neteyam, Lo’ak, and their adopted daughter Kirina. The elder Na’vi, Tonowari, closely oversees tranquility amidst everything.

Although time has passed since the war, humans have not forgotten their bitterness and still seek to exploit Pandora’s natural resources. General Ardmore, who has risen to command the humans, ruthlessly cloned the consciousness of Miles Quaritch and merged it with his own Avatar body. Together, they plan a massive strike against Pandora to completely destroy the Na’vi people.

Now, Jake must join forces with Neytiri and the Na’vi army to protect their home planet.

The film was awarded an Oscar for its outstanding visual effects. The movie utilized motion-capture technology, followed by computer-generated animation.

Young Sherlock Holmes

“Young Sherlock Holmes” serves up a fictional story about the famous detective Sherlock Holmes in his youth. The movie depicts how Sherlock Holmes and his future friend John Watson first meet and embark on solving a mysterious case.

The story begins with a young Sherlock arriving in London to study. He meets John Watson at his new school, and soon strange things start happening. Various deaths seem to be connected, and Sherlock and John begin investigating the events. Their investigation leads them deeper into the trail of a mysterious cult that practices ancient rituals and uses skilled illusions to manipulate people.

Throughout the movie, the young friends decipher complex clues and gradually uncover the truth behind the events. The story highlights Sherlock’s cleverness and skills, as well as the loyalty and courage of his future partner, John Watson.

“Young Sherlock Holmes” is an intriguing blend of adventure, mystery, and youthful drama that provides a glimpse into how Sherlock Holmes later became the famous master detective.

The movie featured the first entirely computer-generated character at the end of the film. It’s known for introducing the first fully digital character created with a computer, a statue of knights made of glass and bronze. This character moves and battles Sherlock Holmes and other characters in the climax of the movie.

The Shape of Water

The events take place in 1962 and in North America, where Elisa and Zelda are cleaners and friends in a research laboratory. Speechless Elisa discovers a top-secret object in the laboratory, which is a human-like, aquatic creature worshiped by the citizens of the Amazon rainforest. Agent Strickland of the laboratory performs torturous experiments on the creature, as a result of which the creature almost perishes. An unexpected love story develops between Elisa and the utopian water creature and Elisa decides to release the creature.

The film was significantly awarded four Oscars: best direction, cinematography, music, and set design. Movie was also awarded at the Bafta Gala.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

The film is magical realism, where the main character is a 6-year-old girl named Hushpuppy. She lives with her father Wink in Bathtub, a dingy swamp in southern Louisiana, USA, where life is primitive and where people live in harmony with nature.

The commune of Bathtub is flooding because the continental ice is melting and this is causing the release of ancient beasts. Winki’s health is also deteriorating at the same time, so it’s time for 6-year-old Hushpuppy to face these challenges and survive them with honor.

Super Furball

A young girl named Emilia gets superpowers from being bitten by her pet guinea pig, which come in handy when the herrings of the Baltic Sea rise up in rebellion to save the sea from pollution. The film is based on the book series “Emilia’s diaries” and more specifically on the book “Supermarsu saves the herrings”, written by Paula Noronen. The book in question was nominated for the Finlandia junior prize in 2009.

The educational material of the school cinema deals with superheroes, writing a diary, bullying at school, social relations in the class, the Baltic Sea and its species, and conservation. The learning material is aimed at primary schools and primary education.

Life of Pi

The film is a survival drama about a young Indian man and a tiger, based on Yann Martel’s bestselling novel Life of Pi. It all starts with a Japanese cargo ship that gets into trouble at sea. Everyone else perishes except Pi, the zebra, the hyena, the orangutan, and the Bengal tiger named “Richard Parker”, so Pi’s survival doesn’t seem easy.

The film was awarded four Oscars: best direction, cinematography, soundtrack, and visual effects.

Continuing to live together is very challenging because of their differences, but the most important thing is to listen to the voice of the heart and trust what the heart says.
