The OASIS was created by the brilliant but eccentric James Halliday, who bequeathed his vast fortune and full control of the OASIS to the winner of a three-part competition he devised. When Wade, whose virtual name is Parzival, manages to pass the first challenge, he is pursued by the infamous IOI company, which wants the OASIS to pump it full of ads. Fortunately, Watts has the help of friends who want to stop IOI’s henchmen and its ruthless leader from carrying out their plans.
