Free Guy

2021 | 115 min | K-12 | action, adventure, comedy

Free Guy tells the story of Guy, a bank clerk whose days are very similar. He wakes up in the morning, greets his pet fish, eats breakfast in front of the TV, and takes coffee with him on the way to work. However, there is a difference: People in the city rioting in sunglasses are destroying Guy’s beloved hometown.

One day, Guy accidentally meets a woman named Molotov Girl, who reveals the truth to him. Guy is a character in a video game called Free City, and the people with sunglasses are player-controlled characters that destroy the city while completing missions in the game. In the real world, Molotov Girl is a game designer named Millie, who is looking for evidence that the game’s code has been branded as the company that created the game through questionable means.

With Guy’s world in danger of being destroyed, he decides to become a hero to save his world in his unique way before it’s too late.

For media educator

Free Guy movie dives into the fast-paced digital game, reminiscent of Fortnite. The side character of the game, Guy, works in the game as a sunny bank clerk, but one day he takes the reins into his own hand's thanks to the development of his artificial intelligence. At the same time, in physical reality, we get to know the company that runs the game and the two game developers who try to beat the money-grubbing game mogul and save Guy. (Source: Media-avain)
