Thelma
2024 | 98 min | K-7 | action, adventure, comedy, drama
93-year-old Thelma Post lives alone in Los Angeles. Her aimless but loving grandson, Daniel “Danny” Markowitz, often visits her and takes care of her needs, even though he doesn’t take responsibility for his own life. Thelma finds Danny’s constant help to be overbearing. When a phone scammer calls Thelma pretending to be Danny and claims he has been arrested, Thelma sends $10,000 to a local address as instructed. Thelma later discovers, together with her daughter Gail and son-in-law Alan, that Danny is safe and was tricked. Since Thelma receives no help from the police and refuses to remain a victim of the scam, she sets out to get her money back. She tries to reach out to old friends for assistance but finds that most have either passed away or moved away. Ultimately, she asks for help from Ben, her friend and widower, who lives in a nursing home.
